Description
Alexander Gardner Photograph of George G. Meade and Staff Signed. 12" x 10.75". This original, sepia toned albumen shows General George Meade, seated, with Generals Gouverneur K. Warren, William H. French, Henry J. Hunt, Andrew A. Humphreys, and George Sykes. Each of the men has signed below their respective image. The photograph was taken in September 1863 near Culpeper Court House, most likely around the time of the battle of that name, September 13, 1863. Mounted to a backing board bearing the title "Incidents of the War." Slight waterstaining of the lower edge touches where Humphreys has signed "Chf.Staff." .5" tear at the right edge does not affect the photograph.Auction Info
