[Robert E. Lee]. Walter H. Taylor Special Order No. 314 Signed from General Lee's Headquarters. One partially-printed blue page (ruled), 7.75" x 10", n.p., December 21[?], 1863, reading in print at the top of the page, "Head Quarters, Department Northern Virginia." This special order grants a leave of absence to Brigadier General John Brown Gordon. Written in the lower margin, "For Comdg officer / Early's Division / Genl Ewell / By command of Gen. Lee [signed] W[alter]. H. Taylor / A. A. General." With smoothed folds; some separation beginning along the folds. Minor staining. The ink throughout has faded.Auction Info
