[Henry "Light Horse Harry" Lee] Silhouette. One page, 8.5 " x 9.75", attractively framed (10" x 12" overall). The striking black paper silhouette of a uniformed Lee on horseback is mounted on paper signed "John Piper/ Profilist/ Boston/ 1777". At the bottom in ink is, "'Light horse' Harry Lee of Virginia". Toning to the mounting paper, else fine.

More Information:

Henry Lee III earned the sobriquet "Light Horse Harry" as commander of Lee's Legion, or the Second Partisan Corps, during the American Revolution. He served as a delegate from Virginia to the Continental Congress and later as congressman from, and governor of, Virginia. One of "Light Horse Harry" Lee's children was Confederate General Robert E. Lee.
