Description

Mary Todd Lincoln: Autograph Note Signed. 5" x 3" scrap of paper with note written entirely in the hand of Mary Todd Lincoln, n.p. (likely Chicago or Racine), n.d. (likely the summer of 1867). In full: "My dear Mrs. Fowler: For reasons that Bernard will explain to you, can you accompany me to town in the morning at nine o'clock? Truly yours, M.L." Pinholes and border tears, not affecting the signature or the bulk of the text. A rather enigmatic note written to the First Lady's Chicago friend and neighbor. It is part of a group of Mary Todd Lincoln items that descended in the Fowler Family and are here offered at auction for the first time.
