Description
Jules Verne Autograph Letter Signed "Jules Verne." One page, 5.25" x 8.25", Amiens, France; April 22, 1880. Addressed to simply "Cher monsieur" and written in French. Verne inquires about aiding a young man named Léon Cappy, who also lived in Amiens. He writes that the boy, was abandoned by his parents and handicapped, but would still prove to be a good worker. In part: "A serious accident prevents him to make full use of one of its legs. Could you be interested in him. He is a paper collector, a good worker and good topic...If you can do something, dear sir, you will have obliged a brave boy who is worthy of all your interest..."Jules Verne (1828-1905) was a French writer, considered by many as the father of science fiction. He published a total of fifty-four novels in his "Extraordinary Voyages" series between 1863 and his death in 1905, with a further eight being published posthumously until 1915.
Condition: Flattened mail folds, with light toning and soiling at the edges. Corners are slightly bumped. Boldly signed.
