Description

John Maynard Keynes Autograph Letter Signed. One page, 4 ½ x 6 ½ inches, Tilton; March 31, 1932. Letter addressed to Mr. Hapford that reads, "Many thanks for your friendly letter... Thanks also for your brother's account of his experiment - it is evidently a very gallant affair." Signed, "Sincerely yours, J.M. Keynes."

Widely regarded as one of the most influential economists of the 20th century, Keynes revolutionized the field of economics by advocating for government intervention in the economy during times of recession or depression, the cornerstone of Keynesian economics. His work, particularly outlined in his magnum opus, The General Theory of Employment, Interest, and Money (1936), argued that government spending and fiscal policies could effectively manage and stabilize the economy. Keynes' legacy extends beyond academia, as his ideas played a pivotal role in the development of modern macroeconomic theory and continue to inform economic policies across the globe.
