Description

James K. Polk Land Deed Signed as governor of Tennessee. One partially-printed page, 11.5" x 15.5", Nashville, September 21, 1841. Less than one month before Governor James Polk left office as Tennessee's ninth governor, he signed this document granting to Jeremiah Ragan "a certain Tract of Land, containing One Hundred & thirty three Acres" in Sevier County. This grant is number 23957. Three years later, he was elected the eleventh president of the U.S. Age toned with some foxing. Separation (not complete, but fragile) along one central fold. Docketed on the reverse.
