Description

J. Edgar Hoover: Two Typed Letters Signed. Two letters on Federal Bureau of Investigation letterhead, each measuring approximately 6 ½ x 9 inches; dated October 16, 1936, and August 21, 1943. Both letters are addressed to E.D. Coblentz. The 1936 letter thanks him for a carton of cigarettes and notes, "...they are the mildest I have found, and are non-irritating." Signed "J. Edgar Hoover." The 1946 letter commends Coblentz, who is publisher of the San Francisco Call-Bulletin, for the excellent article on police training which appeared in his paper. The letter is signed, "Edgar."

Condition: Both letters have the word "copy" written in pencil at top right. The 1936 letter has toning and three stray adhesive stains in the margins not affecting text.
