Thomas Edison Check Signed "Thos. A. Edison", 8.5" x 3" (sight), drawn on Savings Investment & Trust Company of East Orange, New Jersey, June 21, 1929, by Edison Botanic Research Corporation Payable to Tarupa Hardware for $6.50. With cancellation holes, some through the "Th" of Edison's signature. Nicely framed and matted with engraved plate and image to an overall size of 22.5" x 16.5". Fine condition.More Information:
Inventor,
entrepreneur, and scientist Thomas Edison (1847-1931) established
the Edison Botanic Research Corporation to produce rubber following
World War I. Harvey Firestone and Henry Ford took an interest in
Edison's work, but by the time of Edison's death in 1931, he still
hadn't developed a domestic rubber source. The check is also signed
by Edison's brother-in-law and business associate, John V. Miller
("J. Miller"). Beginning
in 1921, Miller served as one of Edison's personal secretaries.
