Physicist Richard P. Feynman Autograph Manuscript Signed Twice, "Richard P. Feynman" and "R.P.F." One page, 8.5" x 11", [no place, no date] being a physics equation bearing an explanatory note at bottom identifying it as "Trying to understand what happens when protons collide." Inscribed to German autograph collector Egon Lehrunkuhl. Feynman notes that the "Model Too Thin Must Self Absorb". In very fine condition. Offered together with his second published article "Forces in Molecules" in the Physical Review Vol. 56, No. 4 (Lancaster, Penn.: American Institute of Physics, August 15, 1939), 385p. quarto in original green titled wraps. Published on pages 340 to 343 and written three years before he would earn his Ph.D. from Princeton, Feynman writes in his summary: "Formulas have bend developed to calculate the forces in a molecular system directly rather than indirectly, through the agency of energy. This permits an independent calculation of the slope o the curves of energy vs. position of the nuclei, and may thus increase the accuracy, or decrease the labor involved in the calculation of these curves. The force on a nucleus in an atomic system is shown to be just the classical electrostatic force that would be exerted on this nucleus by other nuclei and by the electrons' charge distribution..." Feynman (1918-88) was best known for his contributions to the theory of quantum electrodynamics for which he was a recipient of the 1965 Nobel Prize in Physics. A fine pairing relative to some of Feynman's early work before he joined the Manhattan Project. Lightly toned at margins, else fine.
