Cornelius Vanderbilt Letter Signed "C Vanderbilt." One page of a bifolium, 5" x 8", New York; March 19, 1874. A letter to G. H. Perry of the Rensselaer & Saratoga Rail Road Company tendering his resignation as a Director. He writes, "Inasmuch as it is impossible for me to give the attention to the Company & Road that is expected from a Director, I hereby tender my resignation..." Docketed on verso.

Cornelius Vanderbilt (1794-1877) was an American businessman who built his vast fortune in shipping and railroads.

Condition: Smoothed folds, with heavy soiling along the vertical fold on the last page. Small chip at top of integral fold. Uneven toning.
