Description

Cole Porter Signed Loan Agreement with Warner Bros. Pictures, Inc. One page, 8.5" x 11"; Burbank, California; January 29, 1947. The document assigns a payment of $135,000 due to Porter on February 2, 1948, to be made to the Bank of America. The payment was due to Porter as pas of an agreement with Warner Bros. made on December 29, 1943. Signed, "Cole Porter." Also signed by the assistant secretary of Warner Bros. Although Porter enjoyed the peak of his success in the 1930s, he continued to flourish in the 1940s writing both for Broadway and Hollywood. Despite his financial success, his extravagant lifestyle may have been the reason for a loan.

Condition: Flattened folds, with a diagonal fold at top left corner. Punch holes at top margin are a bit torn. Pencil annotation in top left corner and on bottom right on recto, as well as on verso. Date stamp docket on verso at bottom right corner.
