Description
William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody Autograph Letter Signed. One page on Buffalo Bill's Wild West letterhead, 8 5/8 x 10 3/4 inches; Budapest, Hungary; June 19, 1906. Cody writes to printmaker William Shaw, in part: "I was talking to my General Agent about giving you some writing to do But our next years tour is not settled yet. We may not come far west, but after next season we will be in the west. There we could use a lot of type work all our Pictorial work is lithograph work." Signed, "W. F. Cody." Includes original transmittal cover.Written during the final decade of Buffalo Bill's Wild West, Cody's show had evolved into an international enterprise. By 1906, the Wild West show was no longer a novelty act but a massive logistical operation requiring extensive printed matter such as programs, posters, and promotional ephemera to support tours across Europe and North America.
Condition: Minor toning with flattened folds. Areas of separation just starting at top edge. Minor thumbsoiling and ink stains at lower margin. Cover is toned with some creasing and scattered stains. Opened along right edge. All corners except bottom left are clipped.
