Rebecca Bates Autograph Document Signed. One page, 5" x 2", n. p., 1876. In full: "Rebecca W. Bates aged 83 years/one of the American army of two in the War of 1812." When a British landing party was coming ashore near their town, Rebecca and her sister, Abigail, grabbed and played a fife and drum. Thinking the militia was approaching, the British troops fled.
