Description
Pioneering Retail Merchant Marshall Field Stock Certificate Twice Signed "Marshall Field." Partially printed document and completed in manuscript, 11.5" x 7.5" (with attached receipt 16" x 7.5"), May 31, 1893. Pullman's Palace Car Company stock certificate for 40 shares issued to Marshall Field and signed by him on the verso and attached receipt. The certificate is also signed by the president of the company, Horace Porter, who had previously served as Grant's aide-de-camp and as ambassador to France.
