Description

Mary Baker Eddy Autograph Note Signed "Aunty Mary B.G. Eddy". One page with integral blank, 4.5" x 7", Concord [New Hampshire], March 16, 1891, to Mr. and Mrs. George W. Morse, with the original transmittal envelope. Mary Baker Eddy (1821-1910) remains a controversial figure. She founded her Christian Science church after falling and sustaining a major spinal injury. She created an empire which included the well-respected newspaper "Christian Science Monitor" and reading rooms across the country. This small note probably accompanied a gift, perhaps a wedding gift. It reads in full: "To my dear / George & Nelly / Yours with love / Aunty Mary B.G. Eddy / March 19 '91". Eddy's penmanship is a work of art, making this example quite special. Though the paper has toned a bit, the script remains bold, bright and in fine condition.
