Description

Andrew Carnegie Autograph Letter Signed in full, "Andrew Carnegie" and initialed, "A C". Two pages, 5" x 8", on Bonar Bridge Station, Clashmore Telegram letterhead, Skibo Castle, Dornoch, Sutherland, Scotland, August 12, 1905 to Mr. Kenkle reflecting on the significant role the Scots played in America towards the establishment of the Republic: "...The Scottish element in Revolutionary History is great. I suppose [John] Witherspoon was really of the Most service holding up the banner of the Republic at the Critical Moment - [John] Paul Jones on the Sea was unrivalled. Mr. Buell has made him life again in his life. Hamilton, Mercer, & others did yeomen service, the former indeed ranks with 'the Father' & Washington & Franklin. For a million & a half of people, little Scotland has contributed her share of great Men to the beloved Republic..." Fine condition. Ex. Henry E. Luhrs Collection.
