Description
Amelia Earhart. Two Autograph Notes Signed ("A") and ("A.E.") to Earhart's mother. Postmarked "May 25, 1933." Earhart DNA package AEL003: seals on envelope and stamp chiefly intact, 95% DNA likelihood. Autograph Note Signed ("A.E."). Paramount Pictures Inter-Office Communication letterhead, trimmed at top affecting logos. One page, measuring 8.5 x 4.5 inches."From: A.E. / To Mrs Eho [One of Amelia's many nicknames for her mom] / Here is all the camera could capture out your windy [window]."
[Together with:] Sepia Photograph of Flowers Outside a Window. Measuring 3 x 4 inches. Minor edgewear, light mark from paperclip.
[And:] Autograph Note Signed ("A"). One leaf, recto only. Measuring 5 x 8 inches. Creased along old folds, toned along edges and folds, minor scattered soiling. The note reads in full:
"Dear Mother. Here's a little dough. The house is getting finished but - the last few weeks are tedious. Will write more later. A"
Both in postmarked envelope, addressed in ink in Amelia's hand, burgundy U.S. Postage stamp (3 cents). Envelope unevenly toned, roughly opened along top edge with small section missing from top flap.
These short notes paint a time in Amelia's life when she was constantly on the move, traveling with G.P. Putnam, headlining lectures, and attending to a variety of events and hosts. This letter, as with the previous lot, is unique among those between Amelia and her mother in that it may have some of the last available DNA directly from Amelia Earhart. The example present in this lot is numbered AEL003 of the "Earhart DNA Package."
