[Civil Rights]. Wyatt Tee Walker Poster Signed. 17" x 11", folds down to 9" x 11", Richmond [Virginia], 1959. Held at the Mosque (modern-day Landmark Theater) in the first days of January 1959, nearly 2,000 people participated in the "passive resistance to massive resistance," a "state-wide protest against Virginia's 'massive resistance' program" The massive resistance movement opposed the integration of Virginia's schools. With a short inscription by Rev. Wyatt Tee Walker to Maude Ballou: "To a grand person and gracious lady./W. Tee Walker/Jany 23, 1959." Folds. Areas of light toning.
