Description
Burger Supreme Court Signed Photograph. Color photograph 13 ½ x 10 inches, no place, [circa 1981 - 1986]. A photo of the nine Supreme Court justices under Chief Justice Warren Burger signed on the mount by all nine justices, "John Paul Stevens," "William H. Rehnquist," "Harry G. Blackmun," "Warren E. Burger," "Lewis T. Powell Jr.," "Thurgood Marshall," "Byron R. White," "Wm J. Brennan," and "Sandra D. O'Connor." Mounted and framed to an overall size of 18 ½ x 15 inches.Perhaps best remembered for its 1973 ruling on Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court under Chief Justice Burger took on a number of high-profile cases. In addition to Roe, the Burger Court voted unanimously to protect the need for a search warrant and Fourth Amendment stipulations on domestic surveillance (United States v. U.S. District Court 1972), ruled to keep the controversial memos and tapes relating to the Watergate scandal private (United States v. Nixon 1974), and decided on the first special education law case in American history (Board of Education of the Hendrick Hudson Central School District v. Rowley 1982).
