Lew Wallace, Union Civil War general, governor of the New Mexico territory, and author, is best known for his 1880 novel of historical fiction, Ben-Hur (made into an Academy Award winning film in 1959 staring Charlton Heston). Written from Wallace's hometown of Crawfordsville, this quotation, from that book is about Queen Ne-Ne-Hofra: "Each year of her life was the beginning of a new song more delightful than any of those which went before. Ben-Hur. 301."
