    Description

John Stuart Mill Reflects on The Arabian Nights, Autograph Letter Signed "J. S. Mill" Two pages, 5" x 7", np, nd. In full: "My dear Sir, The subject we talked of yesterday, the Arabian Nights, appears to me to be better and better the more I think of it- & Robertson also likes it exceedingly. We will therefore consider it as settled & I am heartily glad we have so good a prospect. Ever Truly Yours" Arabian Nights was one of his childhood favorites. While Mill was most noted for his work A System of Logic, perhaps his most accomplished writing came with his wife at his elbow in an endeavor to promote the liberation of women in Subjection of Women. Fine condition. From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection.
