Description

Charles Dickens Engraving Signed "Charles Dickens." Arguably the most well known novelist of the nineteenth century, the aging Dickens is here seen, head in hand, staring thoughtfully to his right in this portrait engraving from a photograph. Mounted to a backing board to an overall size of 9.75" x 11.75", his illustrious signature and paraph are found below his likeness, in blue ink which has bled into the board slightly, along with "Boston/Twenty sixth February/1868." Signed engravings of Dickens are uncommon. Slight water staining at lower left corner and at left of the image; small hole in the board near left center edge.
