Description
Carl Sandburg Signed Photograph. 8 x 10 inches, no date; no place. A black-and-white photograph of writer Carl Sandburg in a suit and mortarboard, taken by photographer Nicholas Georgieff. Signed, "Nicholas Georgieff / Ever good wishes / Carl Sandburg."Together with:
Lowell Thomas Typed Letters Signed (2). Two letters to Georgieff from writer and filmmaker Lowell Thomas, with original transmittal covers. Each is signed "Lowell Thomas" in green ink and measures 7 1/4 x 10 1/2 inches. The first, dated October 6, 1960, reads in full: "Thanks for the note you sent me a couple of weeks ago. By all means send me copies of the pictures. I'm anxious to see them. Then, after I do, I may pick out one in particular and get you to make up a whole flock of prints." The second, dated November 28, 1960, reads in full: "You are a gentleman and a scholar. Many many thanks. I hope to have the opportunity to return the compliment one of these days."
Dorothy Thompson Signed Cards (2). Two cards signed "Dorothy Thompson" in blue ink, measuring 6 x 4 inches and 5 1/8 x 3 1/2 inches.
Condition: Crease at the center of the Sandburg photograph. Light stains near the bottom margin of the October 6 letter. A bit of soiling to the Thompson cards; short tear at the bottom edge of larger card.
