Description

Thomas Sully Paint Palette with Autograph Description. Placed upon a 5" x 6.75" piece of paper, the eminent American portrait painter has placed fifteen spots of paint in a semi-circle, each dab with a corresponding number. Below, he has given the composition of each color. Mounted to a backing sheet to an overall size of 6" x 8". A notation at the upper and lower edges dates the palette to 1832. Sully is best-known for his portrait of Andrew Jackson that is used on the twenty-dollar bill.
