Description

Franz Schubert Autograph Letter Signed "Schubert." One page of a bifolium, 4.25" x 6.5", no place, no date. A short letter to a friend, written in German. A translation reads in full: "I cannot come to lunch. Please excuse me. At 1/2 8 in the evening, however I will certainly be there."

Franz Peter Schubert (1797-1828) was an Austrian composer of the late Classical/early Romantic period. He died at the young age of 31, but left behind more than 600 vocal compositions, seven complete symphonies, numerous operas, and a large body of piano and chamber music as his legacy.

Condition: Flattened mail folds and light additional creasing. Minor toning throughout. Foxing throughout. Wax seal remnants and mounting residue on verso.
