Claude Monet Autographed Letter Signed "Claude Monet." One page. 5.25" x 8.25", January 6, 1916. A letter responding to an invitation. Translated from the original French, in full: "Dear Friend, / To come for lunch won't be possible, despite my strong desire to go the Climenaux. Could they arrive around noon and are they willing to return on the same evening? Friendly regards to you, best of year. Claude Monet" On linen stationery printed simply "Giverny Par Vernon. Eure" on upper recto. With original transmittal envelope addressed in Monet's hand. With one smoothed fold and some toning to edges.Auction Info
