[Civil War]. Captain Ebenezer Van Tuyl Autograph Letter Signed. Four integral pages, 5" x 8", Upton's Hill [Virginia], October 6, 1862, to Lt. Col. Fred Pierson complaining that the men "are tired of being the football of every military caprice" and would "hail with joy your assumption of the command of our Regiment." Van Tuyl, a captain in the 1st New York Volunteer Regiment, was captured the following May at the Battle of Chancellorsville. He was paroled eleven days later and mustered out May 25, 1863.
