Garth Williams. Fifteen Rough Sketches for Illustrations in Laura Ingalls Wilder's On the Banks of Plum Creek, 1953. Pencil on paper. Fifteen sheets of varying sizes, most being 8.5 x 5.5 inches. Includes a preliminary drawing of the cover art, signed in full by Garth Williams. All other smaller sketches are initialed by Williams. All in generally fine condition. From the Estate of Garth Williams.There are no finished original illustrations from On the Banks of Plum Creek. The finished drawings were lost by the publisher, and Garth Williams never received them back. The rough sketches and preliminary drawings that we are offering in this auction are all that exist.
