Description
5 Cent Bicycle Trade Stimulator. Trade stimulators were popular countertop machines in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, designed to encourage customers to engage in small games of chance, often rewarding winners with items like cigars or candy. They were commonly found in establishments such as saloons and general stores. Originally made by Sun Manufacturing but carrying a Shryock-Johnson Mfg. tag, this example is complete save for the metal coin drop used to collect the nickels. To play, the patron inserts a nickel, pulls the handle to the right, dropping the coin into the right side of the cabinet and with a ring of the bell, the wheels start to spin. The sum of the numbers on each wheel corresponds to an award card that would be displayed next to the device (not present). Housed in the original oak cabinet measuring 20" x 14" x 6".Condition: The device is in fine working order, save for the bell not ringing. Drop a nickel in the coin slot and crank the lever to the right, both wheels will spin eventually stopping on the winning combination of numbers. The oak cabinet shows age and play wear in untouched original condition. Missing the metal coin drop pan. A fine example of this rare roulette style early gaming device!
