Description

Framed Sampler: "Sarah Summers" in 1799, most possibly an English piece. Adorned near the bottom with two small crowns and a small dog above her name, the sampler is made with silk on linen. Minor problems with the lines and some deterioration of the backing fabric have caused some minor loss of stitching. This piece has been backed with a new piece of cotton to protect and conserve it. The sampler displays three beautifully stitched mottos.
