Description
Original 1852 "Duke of Wellington's Funeral" Broadside. One page, 11" x 17.5", np, 1852. Published by George Vickers at 28 and 29 Holywell Street. This broadside features the "Official Programme" for the public funeral of the late, "Field Marshal Arthur Duke of Wellington." The three-column text includes the order of the funeral procession. There is a wonderful large graphic of the casket at the lower right having the words "THE BODY" at the center. A very distinct vignette of his coat-of-arms and implements of war appear the top, and a thick mourning border surrounds the piece. The broadside is in very fine condition; some light fading and rubbing of the black has occurred.Auction Info
