From perhaps the most exquisitely illustrated Ovid edition of them all, these plates are beautifully ornamented, with the illustrations within ornate borders with garlands draped across the top and with Banier's French translations at the bottom of each plate. Each plate illustrates a scene from Ovid's narrative poem of the creation and history of the world. Also included are the title pages and other preliminary pages from volumes two and four of this edition.
