Description

Abraham Lincoln: Oil on Canvas. 25" x 30" portrait of Lincoln, half-length view facing ¾ right. A very fine and accomplished rendition, possibly done from life as it does not match any known photographs or prints. Prior to cleaning, relining and varnishing, an inscription and date ("E.P. 1863") were visible on the back of the canvas. We notice a small touch-up on the tip of the nose and some in-painting above the necktie; otherwise, there does not seem to be any noticeable restoration. Framed to an overall size of 32" x 37". Donald Dow designed the frame which was produced by Newcomb Macklin of Chicago.
