Description

Mid 19th Century Texas Walnut & Pine Two Drawer Wardrobe, maker unknown, originally purchased in Round Top, Texas. The two drawers show the thick dovetailing attributed to many Texas pieces and the scalloped crown adds to the Biedermeier - style look. The doors are mortised and the cabinet was built with pegs as well as square nails. 73" tall, 38" wide, and 9.5" deep.

Condition: Early porcelain knobs replace what were originally wooden. The cornice is loose and could be reglued easily.

Provenance: Purchased in 1988 from the Estate Auction of well - known Texas collector Dr. G. R. Wagner of Bastrop, Texas.
