Description
The Alamo Trophy
Joseph Anthony Atchison. The Alamo Trophy. 15.75" x 24.5"; .75" thick along the edges. Reproducing part of Henry Arthur McArdle's 1905 painting, Dawn at the Alamo, Atchison's bronze features the Texian defense of the Alamo against the Mexican Army assault and reads "The Alamo Trophy" below the image. In the lower right is "1946 Joseph Anthony Atchison." Atchison could have created this trophy in celebration of Texas' centennial of statehood or as an award, though unfulfilled (the blank space below the trophy could have been reserved for the winner's name). A noted sculptor, Joseph Anthony Atchison (1895-1967) was a member of London's Royal Society of Sculptors. With a gentle patina; ideal for display.Auction Info
