Description

Edison Stock Ticker with Glass Dome. This 19th century stock ticker is an Edison Model 3-A. The brass framework is stamped: "2458 'ET-3-A' 22-OHMS." and "Elect. Ind. Mfg. Co. New York." It is mounted to its original cast iron base, painted black. There is a later Western Union sticker applied to the front of the base. There are dual pairs of electrodes on either side for connection to a telegraphic signal that relayed stock information from Western Union and for a storage battery. It is fairly heavy and includes a wooden base and glass dome. likely the original components. This is evocative of the days of the Barons of Wall Street, such as Jay Gould, Jim Fisk and J. P. Morgan, not to mention Charles Schwab!
