Description

A Mid-19th Century Clay Pipe Bowl Depicting a Black Slave. Rendered with great detail, it was probably manufactured in England, as the serious expression is more respectful than the caricature-like images typical of American items of the period. Excellent overall condition, with a minor chip at the lip where the pipe stem would attach. Height 1.875", length 2.625".
