Description
Rare Pair of Cased British Side-by-Side Double Barrel Percussion Pistols and Accoutrements by H. Tatham, Jr. .50 caliber, 6-inch case-hardened octagonal side-by-side barrels with dentate pattern banding at muzzles. Concave rib. Top flats marked: H. Tatham, Junr./Charing Cross, London. British proofs. Steel under rib with swivel ramrod. Fine scroll-engraved hammers, tang and lockplates. Double triggers and sliding safeties. Squareback triggerguards. Deluxe burlwood stocks with finely engraved and blued furniture. Vacant oval silver wrist escutcheons. Engraved oval pommel cap with hinged cap reservoir. Contained in green felt-lined mahogany partitioned case with round brass lid escutcheon and brass corners, together with japanned cap tin, pewter oiler, screwdriver, faceted copper pistol powder flask, nipple wrench a, remnants of leather key bag and cleaning rod grip.Henry Tatham, Jr. was born in 1801, in business 1826-35 on 24 Pall Mall and 1836-60 at 37 Charing Cross, London. Condition: Both guns are excellent with light wear overall. Vibrant case-hardening. Actions tight and crisp. Case with wear and fading to interior. Some partitions loose.
