Queen Victoria Commemorative Jubilee Sterling Silver Gilt Goblet Presented by the Mercers Company.

The Mercers' Company traces its history back to the reign of King Henry II. The Worshipful Company of Mercers is the premier livery company of the City of London and ranks first in the precedence of Companies, the first of the Great Twelve City Livery Companies. In the modern era the Company exists primarily as a charitable organization supporting a variety of causes. The company's motto is Honor Deo, Latin for "Honour God".

This magnificent goblet bears English hallmarks, is stamped Hunt & Roskell on the inside lower rim and numbered 151. The goblet stands 9 1/2-inches tall and features the coat of arms of the Mercer Company on one side. The base is engraved "The Gift of the Mercers Company to Commemorate the Jubilee of Queen Victoria, 1887".

Condition: Some tarnishing to gilt, otherwise excellent condition. From the Estate of the late Hiroshi Harada of Piedmont, California.
