Description

Edward VI: Cast Iron Tudor Fireback. 27" x 30". The fireback features the Royal Tudor arms with a dragon (dexter) and a greyhound (sinister) with the crowned Tudor Rose above the dragon and the crowned Beaufort portcullis above the greyhound, below all is the date "1548".

Edward VI, the only son of Henry VIII and Jane Seymour, succeeded to his father's throne as king of England and Ireland on January 28, 1547. His short reign ended with his death at the age of fifteen in 1553. Not surprising, there is considerable degradation to detail and some metal loss along the bottom of the fireback. General pitting, else near fine.
