Hidatsa Quilled War Shirt, Circa 1880. Thread-sewn with quilled bands along the sleeves and over the shoulders, decorated with a pattern of elongated triangles and cross-banding and stylized flowers at the cuffs in red, maroon, green, and pink on yellow, the rectangular bibs in beaded red trade cloth with dark selvedge decorated with a barred pattern in light blue, cobalt blue, light blue, and white seed beads, the hide with short hide fringe along the hem and long fringe on the sleeves. A rare and desirable war shirt with great visual appeal. Length 37". Condition: Very Good.
