Description

Tombstone, Arizona: Coins Commemorating First Helldorado Celebration. Bank of Helldorado (Tombstone) 1929 commemorative coin set includes three silver-colored metal coins (likely whitemetal or aluminum) $1 (24mm); 50c (19mm); 25c (15mm); and a copper-colored "Lady Luck" coin (19mm). Recognizing the attraction of and interest in Tombstone's history, leading residents of the town decided to hold an event in 1929 to celebrate the town's fiftieth anniversary as well as its colorful past. Named after William Breakenridge's book entitled Helldorado, the event was very successful and continues to be held every October, with reenactments of gunfights, fashion shows, musical entertainment, and a parade. A nice set relating to Tombstone's colorful history. The coins are in excellent condition.
