Description
Apollo 8 Flown Rotational Controller Handle Signed by and from the Personal Collection of Mission Command Module Pilot James Lovell. A milled aluminum handle, approximately 4.5" tall with a black "trigger" and indented finger grips. It is custom mounted to a handsome wooden base with an engraved brass plate stating, "Presented to Astronaut James A. Lovell/ Commemorating Apollo 8, First Manned Lunar Orbital Mission". Lovell has certified and signed on the bottom: "Apollo 8 Original Hand Controller- James Lovell". Very fine condition.This lot includes a signed Letter of Authenticity from Lovell on his letterhead stating: "I hereby certify that this rotational controller Was on board and used during the Apollo 8 mission. It was removed and presented to me as a gift after the flight. This rotational controller is from my personal collection of space artifacts and has been in my possession since the mission."
