Henry Clay Autograph Letter Signed as U.S. senator from Kentucky. One page, 8" x 10", August 10, 1837, Ashland, to Charles L. Theil, mentioning his "preparations for my journey to Washington". Toned; fine.More Information:
Written from his Kentucky estate, Ashland, Clay, known as the "Great Compromiser", writes in part: "I duly received your favor requesting my Autograph, and I take pleasure in transmitting it accordingly. I should be happy also to comply with your other request for the signatures of eminent persons which may happen to be in my possession; but busily engaged in preparations for my journey to Washington, I have not time to examine among my numerous papers for those which I should not care to part with."
