Description

Cyrus McCormick Autograph Letter Signed "C.H. McCormick." One page, 8.25" x 10.5", Chicago, Illinois, December 23, 1852. To Jno. R. Walker in regard to a warranty on his reaper. Here is an exceptionally early reference to the invention that made McCormick's fortune, and revolutionized American agricultural production: the reaper, invented just twelve months before. In part, "…I regret your entire report of mess at mowing…It is my custom to make you my warranties & if your machine will not mow of which you can satisfy the Agent for he can show you what is wrong he will refund amt. to you to make it right." The letter is in fine condition; usual folds are present; some light staining present on verso. From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
