An Amazing Collection of Space Pioneers Signed Philatelic Items, Some Autopen. Over eighty signatures of astronauts and NASA personnel compose this vast and glorious collection. Most figures have signed across or under 4-cent Project Mercury stamps affixed to 3" x 5" cards in acetate photo album pages. The collection also includes four TLsS, a signed photo, one ALS, and one ANS. The luminaries whose signatures appear in this collection are numerous (including six of the Mercury Seven): Gordon Cooper, Scott Carpenter, John Glenn, Gus Grissom, Deke Slayton (two autopens), Alan Shepard (secretarial signature), Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, Roger Chaffee, Alan Bean, Buzz Aldrin, James Lovell, Thomas Stafford, Elliot See, Dave Scott, Walter Cunningham, Bill Pogue (one authentic, one autopen), Al Worden (autopen), Joe Irwin (autopen), Charles Conrad, Frank Borman, Ed White, Gene Cernan, Jack Swigert, Jack Lousma, Vance Brand (autopen), and many others. A number of the other signatures are autopens. The collection also includes NASA pioneers like Director Robert Gilruth, D. Brainerd Holmes (NASA's Director of Manned Space Flight Programs), Russell Colley (inventor of the space suit), and Max Faget (designer of the Mercury capsule).
