George III, King of Great Britain. Highly important series of nearly 140 autograph letters, mostly signed ("G. R."), some 146 pages, nearly all quarto, Kew Windsor and elsewhere, 1766-68 and 1782-83, to the 2nd Earl of Shelburne with the majority written to Lord Shelburne as leader of the government negotiating peace with American after the War of Independence one written in pencil, nearly all with integral blanks, a few with address leaves, some written on paper with the distinctive ribbed watermark of the Montgolfier Brothers' factory (also favored by Marie Antoinette), the second letter with traces of formerly have been bound, one or two other early letters slightly browned, but overall in fine and fresh condition.

[Schlick Scientific Archive.] Important archive of (56) signed letters written by nine of the great figures of 20th century physics and philosophy, including 7 Nobel Prize winners, to Moritz Schlick, German physicist, philosopher and the founding father of logical positivism and the Vienna Circle. As leader of the European school of positivist philosophers known as the Vienna Circle, Moritz Schlick surrounded himself with luminaries in the fields of philosophy, physics and mathematics. The members of the Circle were united in their hostility to the abstractions of metaphysics, by the grounding of philosophical statements on empirical evidence, by faith in the techniques of modern symbolic logic and by belief that the future of philosophy lay in becoming the handmaiden of science.

Alexander II. The original autograph love letters for one of the most tragic and compelling romances in history, that of Tsar Alexander II and Princess Catherine Yurievskaya, together with an important archive of family papers and photographs (many signed and annotated). (81) Autograph letters unsigned (as always) between the Tsar Alexander II and his mistress, Catherine Michailovna Dolgoruka, (later his morganatic wife Princess Yurievskaya). Together over 200 pages, largely in French (with a few in Russian), 57 of the letters written by the Tsar between August 27, 1866 and March 20, 1879 (33 translated into English), and 24 of the letters by the Princess between October 8, 1866 and August 19, 1880 (20 translated into English).
