Description
Apollo 10 Command Module Flown Spacecraft Identification Plate Directly from the Personal Collection of Command Module Pilot John Young, Certified and Signed. A brass plate, 3.25" x 1.75" in size, mounted to a 10" x 5" x 0.75" Sheaffer marble desk set. The brass plate is engraved as follows:SPACECRAFT - 106

When Rockwell manufactured the Apollo spacecraft, they attached to the interior structure three identical brass identification plates signifying spacecraft number and other key manufacturing information. Upon completion of the mission, it was a tradition for Rockwell to remove these plates during their post-flight inspection of the spacecraft for presentation back to the astronaut crewmembers as part of a specially built desk set. This is the flown Rockwell ID plate removed from the Apollo 10 Command Module (Spacecraft #6) and presented to Command Module Pilot John Young. Excellent condition overall; one of the penholders is broken (could be replaced or restored). The Sheaffer 14K gold-nibbed fountain pen and the matching ballpoint pen are included.
On the marble base, John Young has written in silver: "Plate Flown on Apollo X. John Young".
