Description

Apollo 11 NASA Vintage "Final Apollo 11 Flight Plan AS-506 / CSM-107 / LM-5" Book. A vintage 8" x 10.5" single staplebound, five-hole punched manual of approximately 295 pages dated July 1, 1969, issued by NASA's Flight Planning Branch, Flight Crew Support Division, just nineteen days before the historic first manned lunar landing. The book is divided into six major sections: "General," "Update Forms," "Detailed Timeline," "Detailed Test Objectives," "Consumables," and "Summary Flight Plan." It outlines in meticulous detail the mission's timeline, operational procedures, contingency plans, and checklists for Command/Service Module Columbia (CSM-107) and Lunar Module Eagle (LM-5). This large-format, multi-section manual includes mission phases from launch to splashdown, with precise timing for burns, communications schedules, lunar orbit insertion, lunar module descent/ascent, and reentry. The Detailed Timeline is particularly interesting- 135 pages of crew activities, planned minute by minute. The plan integrates spacecraft systems data, crew activities, and navigational sequences, serving as the crew's master roadmap to the Moon. Light wear and front cover nearly detached, near fine.

Flight plans of Apollo 11, especially in this final pre-mission issue, are scarce and highly desirable. They represent the definitive, working blueprint for humankind's first voyage to another world.
